( 20 Feb 08 - RV) Burma’s military government announced yesterday that the writing
of the country’s new draft constitution has been completed. The 54-member Constitution
Drafting Commission finished the document after two months of working on it, but the
text has not yet been made public. The new charter is meant to lead to a general election
in 2010, but was drawn up with the objective of ensuring a leading role in politics
for the military. Guidelines also included barring pro-democracy leader Aung San Su
