Negotiations Underway to Limit Use of Cluster Bombs
(18 Feb 08-RV) Delegates from more than 120 countries opened negotiations today at
an international convention in New Zealand’s capital on an agreement to limit the
use of cluster munitions. The talks began last year in hopes to ban the production,
use, trade and storage of cluster bombs. The permanent observer to the United Nations
and other international organizations in Geneva, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi says cluster
munitions represent an unacceptable danger to civilians…
