Has the World Forgotten Sri Lanka?


(12 Aug 07 - RV ) Battles are intensifying between the Sri Lankan military and Tamil Tiger rebels in Jaffna, in the north of the island.
A new offensive was launched by the military this month to drive the rebels from the northwest Mannar area, after pushing them out from jungles in the east.
5,000 people have died since last year in renewed fighting after a peace process collapsed.
