(16 July 2007 - RV) Pakistani investigators today were hunting for links between a
surge of violence in the northwest and an assault on the Red Mosque in Islamabad.
Nearly 100 people have been killed in the northwest since government forces seiged
the mosque on 3 July. Farzana Shaikh is an Associate Professor of South Asian Studies
at the University of Cambridge. She says the situation in Pakistan is bound to deteriorate.
