(12 January 2007 - RV) The Sudanese government has agreed in principle to a cease-fire
and a new round of peace talks with Darfur rebels. Yet despite the paper agreement,
the government continues to oppose a U.N. Security Council plan to replace the 7,000
African Union Peacekeepers in the region with 20,000 U.N. Troops. Anne Louise Colgan,
Director of Policy Analysis and Communications at Africa Action, told us more about
the urgency of the situation in Darfur and why a U.N. Force is needed to insure that
humanitarian workers can reach those most in need.
