(25 Sept '06 - RV) The African Union has announced plans to send 4,000 extra troops
into Sudan to reinforce its extended peacekeeping mission in war-ravaved Darfur, bringing
the total to 11,000 soldiers. The move comes as international pressure on Sudan rises
to allow a 20,000 troop UN force into the region. An estimated 200,000 people have
died in Darfur since violence flared in 2003, and 2.5 million have been displaced
in the fighting between Government forces, rebels and militias. We spoke to Africa
