Killing in Canada Raises Gun Law Questions


(14 Sept 06 - RV) Six people in Canada are in a critical condition today after a gunman opened fire at a Montreal college, killing one woman. The 25-year-old man wounded a total 19 people at Dawson College on Wednesday, before he was shot dead by police. Efforts to tighten up gun laws in Canada were prompted by the country's worst mass shooting in 1989, when a gunman killed 19 people at a polytechnic. We spoke to the editor and publisher of the catholic register in Canada, Joe Sinisac. He said the shooting would inevitably raise questions over the effectiveness of current legislation...
