(19 Aug. 2006) : Pope Benedict enjoys a relaxed pace with fewer public appearances
and more time for reading, writing and prayer at his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo,
where he arrived on 28 July. Pope Benedict will leave Castel Gandolfo for a 6-day
trip to his native Bavaria from 9th till 14th September. Pope’s
schedule calls for quick trips to the Vatican each Wednesday for his regular weekly
public audiences. That schedule can be changed, as it was on August 16, when a relatively
small crowd of 4,000 people made plans to attend the Wednesday audience, and it was
held at Castel Gandolfo. Otherwise the Pontiff will remain at the apostolic palace
south of Rome, on the shore of Lake Albano.
