Pope Leaves for Castel Gandolfo

(28 July 06 - RV) Pope Benedict XVI has left his summer retreat in the Italian Alps for the Papal Summer Residence in Castel Gandolfo.


Before leaving the small village of Les Combes where the Pope has spent the last 18 days on vacation, the Holy Father renewed his appeal for peace in the Holy Land. Speaking to reporters, Pope Benedict said that the only instrument for peace is prayer.


Beginning this Sunday pope Benedict will pray the Angelus from Castel Gandolfo. General Audiences will be held regularly here in the Vatican from this coming Wednesday.
