(24 July 2006 - RV) Pope Benedict has renewed his appeal "to charitable organizations
to help all the people struck by the pitiless conflict in the Middle East."
So
far emergency teams from various Catholic relief agencies uder the blanket of Caritas
Internationalis are on the ground trying desperately to respond to the increasing
humanitarian needs of those affected by the escalating violence.

The Vatican's
charity run by the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum" today published a request for aid
to those suffering because of the conflict in the middle east.
The press release
states:
“The Pontifical Council 'Cor Unum' wishes, in the name of the Holy
Father, to demonstrate its closeness to those who are suffering, (by) sending preliminary
aid to help shelter the thousands of displaced people.
"This aid is directed
towards a project being promoted by Caritas Lebanon, the Custody of the Holy Land,
the Avsi Foundation and other organizations present on the ground, in order to supply
materials for welcome centers, drinking water, food and hygiene kits, and medicines."
