( 22 July 2006 RV) A mass will be celebrated tomorrow morning at 10:30 a.m. in Saint
Peter’s basilica for the intention of peace in Lebanon and in the Middle East in accordance
with the request expressed by Pope Benedict XVI. The mass will be concelebrated
by Chekralla Harb, bishop emeritus of the Maronite eparchy of Jounieh and Giuseppe
Simonazzi, canon of St. Peter’s basilica. All other Sunday masses celebrated
in the basilica will also be offered for this special intention. Indeed in churches,
monasteries and cloisters across the Christian world prayers and penance will be offered
up this Sunday, in a united call for an end to violence.. Charles Collins has this
