(17 Mar 06 RV) Though originally a Catholic holy day, St. Patrick's Day has evolved
into more of a secular celebration synonymously linked to Ireland and all things Irish.
Worldwide it is marked with vast parades, wearing of the green, and drinking beer.
Of course, St. Patrick's Day wouldn't exist if not for the man himself! But how
much do we actually know about the Apostle of Ireland, that isn’t entangled in centuries
of legend and heresay? In order to distinguish the man from the myth, Emer Mcc Arthy
spoke to Irish priest Father Billy Swan, who has chosen the life and works of the
Saint for his doctorate in systematic theology.
