(11 Mar 06 - RV) Pope Benedict XVI met today with participants in this week’s conference
on missionary work and evangelization. The event has been held over the past few
days at the Pontificial Urban University here in Rome and was organized to celebrate
the 40th anniversary of the promulgation of the Vatican Council II decree
– Ad Gentes. The Holy Father reflected on the importance to respond to the challenges
facing missionaries today that the group brought presented throughout their meeting. The
Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples’ Apostolic Visitor for the Oceanic
Region is the Archbishop of Sydney, Australia, Cardinal George Pell. He underlined
Pope Benedict’s point that we must continue to spread Christ’s message even in the
face of difficulties such as a decrease in religious vocations or issues of bad formation…
