In Anticipation of the Pope's visit to Vatican Radio
(02 Mar 06 - RV) Tomorrow Pope Benedict XVI will visit Vatican Radio for the occasion
of its 75th Anniversary.
At 11am the Holy Father will arrive at
the Radio’s Rome Studios in Palazzo Pio and will be welcomed by our three Directors
–
Director General: Fr. Federico Lombardi SJ; Director of Programs: Fr. Andrea
Koprowski SJ; Technical and Administration Director Alberto Gasbarri.
The
three most significant moments of the Pope’s visit are:
1. The Blessing of
the plaque dedicated to ‘Cardinal Karol Wojtyła,’ in Studio 3 where, in the years
prior to his election as pontiff, Wojtyła did 30 interviews with the Polish section
of the Radio.
2. A brief moment of prayer in the Chapel of the Annunciation.
3.
A discourse by the Pope in the Sala Marconi in response to one of tribute by the Radio’s
directors.
In the corse of Pope Benedict’s visit, he will meet with all 39
language sections of Vatican Radio and make a special viewing of the new offices of
the One-O-Five and Music programs.
It will be possibile to follow the visit
live via radio on 105fm and the Vatican Radio web site, as well as via television
with simultaneous transmissions on CTV, Telepace and Sat 2000.
