(5 December 2005 - RV) A new law allowing "civil unions" for homosexuals went into
effect this morning in Great Britain. Due to a two-week waiting period, the first
"registration" of a homosexual union will not occur until December 19th. The law
will give homosexual couples the same property and inheritance rights as married couples,
but does not give the unions the same title as "marriage." The Archbishop of Cardiff,
Peter Smith, says that the new category is marriage in everything but name.
