(31 May 2005 - RV) Leaders of Jerusalem's Greek Orthodox Church have appointed a temporary
substitute for its embattled patriarch. Archbishop Cornelios takes over from Patriarch
Irineos, who is entangled in a row over the sale of church land in East Jerusalem
to Jewish investors. Patriarch Irineos has denied any wrongdoing and has refused
to resign. Father David Jaeger teaches Canon Law at Rome's Pontifical Antonianum
University and is a member of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land. He told us
more about the background to the current crisis.
