(23 May 05 - RV) On Monday, Pope Benedict XVI received the president of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov, and the prime minister of Macedonia, Vlado Buckovski.
Officials from the two countries were in Rome on the occasion of the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius, apostles of the Slav peoples.
Saint Cyril is buried in Rome.
Pope Benedict spoke to the Macedonian delegation about the relevance of the two saints' teachings in modern Europe.
