Help for Africa

(13 May 2005 - RV) Pope Benedict says that Europe is responsible for many of Africa's problems, including corruption, violence, arms trafficking and environmental pillage.
The Pope made his impromptu comments to priests who had asked him questions about Africa "We must confess that Europe has exported not only faith in Christ, but also all sorts of vices," the Holy Father said. Pope Benedict went on to say that "Christians have to do everything possible so that along with faith, there also arrives in Africa the strength to resist these vices."
The Pope has often used his speeches to highlight the plight of the world's poor and suffering, and Britain's Ambassador to the Holy See Kathryn Colvin says her government shares the Holy Father's concerns. RealAudioMP3
