US Bishops create Committee on Racism

(Vatican Radio) The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has announced the creation of a special committee to address racism in US society and within the Church in the country.

The decision follows several months of increasing tensions, which included a major demonstration by white supremacists that turned violent and deadly in Charlottesville, Virginia, earlier this month.

The USCCB’s Ad Hoc Committee Against Racism is to be chaired by Bishop George V. Murry, SJ, of the Diocese of Youngstown, Ohio.
