Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde Lenten formation

Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde holds a series of formation conferences to animate the faithful during Lent.

"By Baptism, I have been called" is the motto of a series of conferences that the Cathedral of Our Lady of Grace (Pró-catedral Nossa Senhora da Graça) in the Diocese of Santiago de Cabo Verde has organised during the Lenten period.

The six weeks of formation conferences coincide with the Lenten period and will be animated by various speakers drawn from the parishes of the diocese.

The first conference under the theme "I belong to ..." took place last Thursday after Ash Wednesday. The speaker was Fr. João Augusto Martins.

The next conference is scheduled for next week on 9 March. The speakers will be the couple, Maria Ivete and Mário Marques, who will focus on the theme "Family: Resources, needs and mission."

The 16 March theme will be on "Church, Baptism and its implications" and will be animated by Dr Pedro Moreira.

On 23 March, Doctor Adilson Semedo will speak in the parish of St. Philip the Apostle on the theme "Belonging: light and shadows."

30 March the topic of discussion will be "The Parish: home and (first) school for communion." Fr Alexandre Lopes will lead the reflection.

At the end of the six weeks Lenten cycle, the Cabo Verdean Cardinal, Arlindo Gomes Furtado, will conclude with a reflection on the Gospel passage of Saint John: "Do whatever he tells you." This will be at the at the Seminary of St. Joseph.
