US: President seeks national gun conversation

(Vatican Radio)  US President Barack Obama has defended his push for tighter gun measures at a nationally televised town hall meeting. He took questions from the public as he pressed for support for the executive measures he announced earlier this week, which include tightening background checks for gun buyers and better licensing for sellers. The President said the rules must be the same for anyone selling guns, and stressed the importance of getting guns out of the hands of people who want to do harm.

"All of us can agree that it makes sense to do everything we can to keep guns out of the hands of people who would do others harm, or themselves harm," he said.
