(Vatican Radio) Father Arnold De Schaetzen belongs to the Society of Missionaries of Africa and is currently based in Uganda where, as he explains, he has been given the name 'Luanga' as a tribute to the Ugandan martyrs.
His order was founded over 130 years ago for the Evangelization of Africa. At present their mission is to help alleviate poverty and deprivation across the African continent, provide up-to-date information relating to justice and peace issues as well as act as bridge-builders to help promote inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue.
As Pope Francis is set to visit Uganda the head of Vatican Radio's French Africa programme Father Jean - Pierre Bodjoko speaks to Father Arnorld De Schaetzen Sma in an effort to find out more about the history of the Catholic Church in Uganda and the role of laity has played there.
