Catholic journalist shares hopes for Pope's youth encounter

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has begun his 6-day, 3-nation visit to Africa, the first leg of which sees him in Kenya. On Friday morning, he is scheduled to meet with the young people of Kenya.

Vatican Radio’s special envoy in Kenya, Linda Bordoni, spoke with Jane Mwangi, a journalist, presenter and producer for the official radio station of Kenya’s Catholic Bishops Confrence, Radio Waumini, about the preparations for the visit and the excitement around specific events.

“I think every event the Pope will be involved in will be very special,” Mwangi said, “but I think him visiting, his meeting with young people – I think that is so significant: meeting the young people, encouraging them, talking with them, listening to them.”

Mwangi went on to say that, as a young person herself, the Friday appointment will be a highlight of the Holy Father’s visit. “I think that is a big one,” she said.
