Kenya: Fr Okello on how to coordinate a Papal vist


(Vatican Radio) Spearheading the coordination of Pope Francis’s visit to Kenya from 25 to 27 November is Fr. Stephen Okello.

A Catholic University of Eastern Africa Philosophy lecturer, Fr. Okello can rely not only on the secretariat he is leading, but on his own first-hand experience as this is the second papal visit he is coordinating.

In 1995, so twenty years ago, Fr. Okello played a leading role in Pope St. John Paul II visit to Kenya.

Exactly 20 years later, the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) has given him another chance to coordinate another papal visit.

Speaking to Vatican Radio’s Linda Bordoni Fr. Okello says much has changed in a span of twenty years making the coordination of papal visits more complicated, but he says, everyone is very happy to welcome Pope Francis:
