New book on Pope Francis gives new insights on Holy Father

(Vatican Radio) To really understand Pope Francis and what kind of Pontiff he is, it is necessary to go to his homeland, Argentina. Which is what Vatican Radio’s Marie Duhamel did in 2014 to research her new book, Pape François, which is an effort to fully document the life of the 266th Pope.

The book contains several hundred photographs, and includes dozens of documents from the life of the Pope, including his baptismal certificate and handwritten profession of faith he took when entering the Jesuits. The video at this link gives an idea of the amount of work which went into the volume.

Listen to the Vatican Viewpoint featuring Marie Duhamel:

“My point was to know what was behind the smiling person that everyone sees in St. Peter’s Square,” Duhamel said.

“He is a person that listens to the other, he’s got a huge memory, and I think the main characteristic is that he is loyal, and his loyalty is really strong,” Duhamel told Vatican Radio.  “He’s so coherent with his ideas, principles – with his heart – he is not betraying anything he says.”

Pape François is currently available in French, but an English language version is being prepared.
