(Vatican Radio) A video of the escape of the leader of the Sinaloa drug cartel from a Mexican maximum security jail, shows the incompetence of the staff, which were supposed to be guarding him.
Listen to the report by James Blears:
Joaquin "Shorty" Guzmán escaped from the Alti Plano maximum security prison in the
State of Mexico, on July 11th, via a 1.5km tunnel, which was dug by accomplices from
the outside into the jail. Three days later, the then National Security Commissioner
Monte Alejandro Rubido, released a video minus sound, showing Guzmán vanishing, after
ducking behind a low Wall in his cell.
The Televison Station Televisa, has now revealed a more complete version of the same
film, which has sound. Drilling can clearly he heard, yet there was no reaction from
the guards. There's a time lapse of 26 minutes between when Guzmán disappears until
Guards who'd finally gone to his cell, confirmed he had indeed escaped. There are
reports that digging and drilling noises were heard several days before the escape.
Since this utter fiasco, various guards, the Head of the prison, and the Director of the Prison system have been arrested. This is Guzman's second escape. Back in 2001 he bribed his way out of another so called maximum security prison in Mexico.
