Putting Mercy to Work: Visiting the sick

(Vatican Radio) How many times in our lives have we been sick and what does the Church teach about facing up to the reality of illness and comforting those who are ill? In this week's edition of “Putting Mercy to Work”, Vatican Radio’s programme on the seven spiritual and seven corporal works of mercy, we shine the spotlight on the fifth corporal work, “visiting the sick”.

Monsignor John Kennedy, an Official at the Vatican’s Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, reflects on the Catholic position on suffering and illness and the importance of comforting the sick in hospital and in the home.
