Nobody is too young to be a Missionary

Despite their ages, (0-14 years), Pontifical Missionary Childhood members are not too young to become missionaries, Kenya’s John Cardinal Njue and the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo have said.

Closing a three-day Silver jubilee for the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops-Commission for Missions and the Golden jubilee of ad gentes which was attended by thousands of children-members of PMC from across Kenya, between 20 August and 22 August, Cardinal Njue told the children to use their talents to know and serve Christ.

Cardinal Njue said that Christian life is a journey that requires faith, patience, preparation and sacrifice. “As God’s children we need to love one another, walk in light of Christ and whole heartedly follow the teachings of Christ,” he said

He urged the children to emulate missionaries who have selflessly served the Church in Kenya for more than 50 years now.

“Look back with joy as we celebrate this golden jubilee since the promulgation of the decree (ad gentes) on the missionary activities of the Church by Pope Paul VI and the establishment of the commission for mission by KCCB 25 years ago.” He said

Addressing the Children a day earlier, on 21 August 2015, the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and Southern Sudan told PMC children to be missionaries and to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ far and wide. “Not everyone knows Jesus and some who already know him have forgotten for one reason or another and you have to help them re-discover God.  God sends us to be the ones who help others to know Jesus just like he sent the apostles 2000 years ago” Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo told thousands of excited children.
