In the footsteps of St Thomas

(Vatican Radio) For nearly two weeks a group of pilgrims have been walking in the footsteps of St Thomas the Apostle, making their way from Rome in a bid to reach their final destination of Ortona in Tuscany.

The Cammino di San Tommaso, or the Walk of St Thomas was established in 2013 and has already seen many pilgrims from a number of nations taking part.

Those who complete the grueling journey, which takes in Subiaco, Rocca di Mezzo and Pretoro, receive a plenary indulgence.

Interest in the walk has also been shown by none other than Pope Francis himself.

The Holy Father greeted members of the association that runs and takes part in the Cammino, during his Sunday Angelus in June of this year.

Fausto di Nella is President of the Associazione "Il Cammino di San Tommaso". He spoke to Lydia O’Kane about the walk.
