Cardinal Stafford: Pope Francis keeps focus on those who are suffering

(Vatican Radio) The highlight of Pope Francis’ July 2015 has been his three-country Latin American tour at the beginning of the month.  He visited Ecuador, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

During his visit he criticized the current international economic system, which seems to  "sacrifice human lives on the altar of money and profit."

On the plane back from his trip this month to Latin America, Pope Francis said he would study criticisms of his economic theories before going to the United States, and also said he needs “delve further” into the problems facing the middle class.

The Major Penitentiary Emeritus of the Apostolic Penitentiary, Cardinal James Stafford, spoke to Vatican Radio about the Pope’s trip to Latin America and his upcoming trip to the United States. He said Pope Francis is trying to keep the focus on those most suffering in the world.
