New Bishop for Syro-Malabar Diocese of Satna


(Vatican Radio) The Holy Father has named Father Joseph Kodakallil as Eparchal Bishop of Satna of the Syro-Malabarese. Father Kodakallil has been serving as Pastor of St Vincent’s Cathedral.

Curriculum vitae of Bishop-elect Joseph Kodakallil

Joseph Kodakallil was born 18 December 1965 in Upputhode, India, in the Eparchy of Kothamangalam. He entered the minor seminary in Satna. After studying philosophy at St Albert’s College in Ranchi, and theology at St Thomas Apostolic Seminary in Vadavathoor, he was ordained a priest on 31 December 1991.

Sent to Rome to continue his studies, Fr Kodakallil earned a doctorate in liturgy from the Pontifical Oriental Institute.

Father Kodakallil has undertaken diverse roles in the diocese: Pastor at Rewa and Vadavathoor; Recotr of St Thomas Minor Seminary of Satna; professor and vice-rector at St Ephrem’s Theological College in Satna; and Protosyncellus of the Eparchy. He is currently Pastor of St Vincent’s Cathedral.
