All eyes on Vienna as Iran talks continue

(Vatican Radio) Washington has said that talks aimed at reaching a deal on Iran's nuclear programme have made progress but some issues still remain unresolved.

Listen to Nathan Morley’s report:

However, speculation is mounting that an announcement will be made on the progress of the process some time on Tuesday.

Representatives from Iran are locked in negotiations with the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China in a push to reach an agreement.

The sides meeting in Vienna have been trying to thrash out a deal which will resolve a crisis which has dragged on for over a decade.

The international community has been working to ensure that Iran does not develop a nuclear weapon and if an agreement is signed – Iran will be granted staggered relief from painful sanctions.

Iran has always insisted that it has no intention of developing weapons and wants nuclear technology for energy and other peaceful applications.
