Pope Francis meets with Prime Minister of Poland


(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Friday met with the Prime Minister of Poland, Ewa Kopacz. She later met with Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, Secretary for Relations with States.

A statement from the Holy See Press Office called the discussions “cordial”, and said they spoke about the preparations for 2016’s World Youth Day in Poland, which Pope Francis is expected to attend. The statement called the cooperation in these preparations “serene and efficient”.

The parties also spoke about the positive contribution of the Church in Poland in the current socio-economic  context, as well as some ethical issues. As the conversation continued, there was an exchange of views on the international  situation, with particular emphasis given to the Ukraine.
