Catholic Family Life launches fundraising campaign

The family, which is the foundation of the Church and community, faces numerous challenges today, and these are of great concern to the Catholic Church in Kenya.

The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) - Family Life National office is mobilising resources in a bid to rescue the family from negative media influences and other activists who advocate for family breakdown by propagating and promoting population control and same sex marriages. With the funding, the Family Life National office will work to instill family values and encourage the faithful to follow Biblical teachings and emulate the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.

Led by the Bishop of Meru Diocese who is also the Bishop-Chair of the KCCB Family Life National Office, Salesius Mugambi, a funds drive was organised to raise money to enable the office roll out its programme in all the Dioceses.

Speaking on Saturday at the Holy Family Minor Basilica where the event took place, Bishop Mugambi called on the people entrusted with the duty to salvage the family to persevere as they educate the masses about the family. “There is need to combine forces with other organisations addressing family matters such as, Marriage Encounter, Education for Life and many others,” the Bishop said.

Bishop Mugambi said the Family Life office is faced with financial challenges, hence the appeal for people of good will to support it. He, however, said he was encouraged by those who contributed during the Saturday fund raising function. The Family Life office raised over Ksh. 0.9 million (Kenya Shillings).
