Ghana to observe 3 days of mourning after petrol station disaster

(Vatican Radio) The President of Ghana has called for three days of mourning to begin on Monday, after over 200 people were killed in a fire and explosion at a patrol station in the capital, Accra.

Listen to our report:

The Wednesday night fire happened amid flooding caused by two days of heavy rain, which may have contributed to the fire.

President John Mahama said the event was “catastrophic”, and called for the clearing out of slums in flood zones to prevent a similar disaster from happening in the future.
