A guided tour of St Peter's Square: of fountains and colonnades

(Vatican Radio) As you know on a Wednesday Pope Francis holds his general audience with pilgrims from across the world in Saint Peter's Square. But have you ever wondered who the architects of the fountains playing in the square are and again how Bernini conceived the colonnade that fences it off from the neighbouring streets? If you wish to find out join Carmelite Father Reginald Foster on Part 2 of a guided tour to this square.

Listen to Carmelite Reginald Foster in a programme presented and produced by Veronica Scarisbrick:

Veronica Scarisbrick once persuaded this eminent Latinist, who's currently teaching Latin in the United States and was, for many years and under many popes, papal Latinist, to take her on a privileged tour there.

She recently came across those precious recordings hidden away in an office drawer and taking one listen decided to share them with you.
