(Vatican Radio) There is growing concern of what the coming monsoon season could bring to Nepal where scores of people are still homeless after two massive earthquakes.
Listen to Ann Schneible’s report:
More than a million people were left without shelter in Nepal after two massive earthquakes struck the south Asian nation over a period of 17 days.
Tens of thousands are sleeping in the open as the country braces for the monsoon season just weeks away.
More than 8,600 were killed in the earthquakes which struck the south Asian nation on April 25 and then in an aftershock on May 12.
Aid agencies are concerned the potential spread of disease and further displacement in the country which is ill-equipped to help those affected.
Nepal's government has raised $70 million of the $200 million needed to bring shelter and medical care to those still in need following the disaster.
