Last month, a special storytelling event was organized in the Vatican on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8th. The event, entitled “Voices of Faith” was the 2nd of its kind in the Vatican, which brought together a group of remarkable women from across the world, among them Indians, to share their personal stories and exchange ideas from a woman’s perspective in an effort to build a better future. These women, both lay and religious, demonstrated how their unwavering faith has positively impacted their life, greater society and the world. “Voices of Faith” has as its motto the words of Pope Francis - “It is necessary to broaden the space within the church for a more incisive feminine presence.” The “Voices of Faith” had invited Indian Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi as a special guest at the event, where some women lamented that not enough was being done to bring women at par with men in the structure of the Church. In an interview we first asked Archbishop Couto what his experience was at the “Voices of Faith” event.
