Delhi Archbishop speaks about gender parity in the Church

Last month, a special storytelling event was organized in the Vatican on the occasion of International ‎Women’s Day on March 8th.  The event, entitled “Voices of Faith”  was the 2nd of its kind in the ‎Vatican, which brought together a group ‎of remarkable women from across the world, among them ‎Indians, to share their personal stories and exchange ideas from a ‎woman’s perspective in an effort to ‎build a better future.‎   These women, both lay and religious, demonstrated how their unwavering faith ‎has positively impacted their life, greater society and the world.  “Voices of Faith” has as its motto the ‎words of  Pope Francis - “It is necessary ‎to broaden the space within the church for a more incisive ‎feminine presence.”‎   The “Voices of Faith” had invited Indian Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi as a ‎special guest at the event, where some women lamented that not enough was being done to bring ‎women at par with men in the structure of the Church.   In an interview we first asked Archbishop ‎Couto what his experience was at the “Voices of Faith” event.
