Bishop Hlib Loncyhna of London shares his Easter message

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis offered Easter greetings to all Christians who follow the Julian calendar, and who are celebrating the great feast of the Resurrection this Sunday. "Christós anésti!" said Pope Francis, speaking to the faithful following the Regina coeli prayer - "The LORD is Risen!" The Holy Father went on to say, "Let us greet all our brethren of the East on this their Easter Sunday," inviting the gathered faithful to do so with a round of applause.

Among those celebrating the great Pashcal solemnity this Sunday, is Bishop Hlib Loncyhna of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of the Holy Family of London, who shares his Easter message with Vatican Radio.

In his Easter Message, Bishop Hlib points out that for many, the Paschal Message was a surprise.  Christ rose from the dead, and that through the Holy Cross, joy was brought to the world.  Quoting the Divine Liturgy “Do not weep for me O mother, for I shall arise and be glorified”, the Bishop then continued, “yet we also seek not only the resurrected Lord but also the crucified Christ.  We seek what we experience and experience what we seek.  All around us are sufferings, hardships and injustices, with which our world is filled with to the brim.  Christ has risen for you and me.  He is alive!  Not in some far away place, but he is the living God who gives us hope to our worries, faith to our weaknesses and love to our sorrows.”

Bishop Hlib then concluded with a quote from the Paschal hymn “Christ is risen from the dead.  By death he conquered death and to those in the grave he granted life.  God Bless you all.”
