Pope says ‘no’ to violence against children, women in conflicts

‎“Pope Francis fully supports the commitment to respect for human rights in the world and is particularly ‎associated with those who work to end violence against children and women in conflicts.”  The observation ‎was made on Friday by Argentina’s ambassador to the United Nations Maria Cristina Perceval, in an ‎interview to Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, not long after she and three other women met ‎Pope Francis in the Vatican.  She said they talked with the Pope about the culture of respect, ‎reconciliation, tolerance, peace and that those responsible for crimes should not go unpunished.  Percival also ‎told the Pope that most often the victims of violence in conflicts are the most helpless – children, ‎women, the poor and members of ethnic and religous minorities.  The Pope insisted that these victims, rather than being  blamed and discriminated against should be helped to re-integrated into their families and the society.
