'Vatican Weekend' for April 11, 2015

(Vatican Radio) 'Vatican Weekend' for April 11, 2015 presents Chris Altieri's report on the weekly general audience of Pope Francis in Saint Peter's Square with pilgrims from across the world.

As Pope Francis is set to mark the Extraordinary Holy Year dedicated to Mercy by reading passages from the 'Bull of Indiction' on Saturday April 11,  we bring you a feature focusing on Jubilee rituals, Holy Doors as well as an eye witness account of the beginning of the Holy Year of 1950.

Also in this half hour programme you can listen to a feature on Saint John Paul II and his devotion to Divine Mercy together with a recording of his words at the Shrine of Divine Mercy in Poland in 2002.

On a different note the rest of the programme is dedicated to the artwork of Borromini on the cork screw dome of the Church of 'Santo Ivo all Sapienza' in the heart of Rome with Professor of Fine Arts Breda Ennis and to scripture scholar Archbishop Mark Benedict Coleridge's account of Judas Macabee for his series on our family tree of faith by the title of 'Blood Sweat and Tears in the Bible'.

A programme presented and produced by Veronica Scarisbrick
