Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) staff, priests, nuns and the lay faithful
have visited Chiromo mortuary to pray, console and distribute foodstuff to the bereaved
families of Garissa University students attack that left 148 students dead.
KCCB -Caritas Kenya provided more than 300 family members and relatives with lunch,
snacks and drinks as a sign of solidarity with the bereaved families as they wait
for the identification of the bodies.
Speaking as he received donations from Caritas Kenya, Secretary General of Kenya Red
Cross Abbas Gullet said the identified bodies will be given to next their next of
kin between today, 8 April 2015 and 9 April 2015 for burials in various parts of Kenya.
The Government of Kenya and red-cross have purchased coffins, clothes for the bodies,
portraits and promised to give 100 thousand shillings to each family towards burial
expenses.
