'Vatican Weekend' for March 7, 2015

(Vatican Radio) 'Vatican Weekend' for March 7, 2015 features a report on the weekly general audience of Pope Francis with pilgrims from across the world. And as Pope Francis marks fifty years since Blessed Paul VI presided over his first Holy Mass in Italian in the Roman Church of 'Ognissanti' we take a look back at that historical occasion and bring you sound clips of the precise moment when the Council Fathers voted on the document  'Sacrosanctum Concilium' that would allow for the use of the vernacular in the liturgy. Among other elements in this programme are a musical meditation for the third Sunday in Lent presented by Monsignor Philip Whitmore, a guided virtual tour of a Roman Church which houses a 'Perin del Vaga' artistic masterpiece depicting a 'Pietà' conducted by Professor of Fine Arts Breda Ennis and the second of our conversations with our popular 'Latin Lover, Carmelite Father Reginald Foster relating to spiritual exercises in the Vatican.

A programme presented and produced by Veronica Scarisbrick
