Jordan executes 2 al-Qaida members after the murder of a Jordanian pilot

(Vatican Radio) Jordan executed two al-Qaida prisoners before dawn Wednesday, after the so-called Islamic State released a video of militants burning captured Jordanian pilot Lt. Muath Al-Kaseasbeh to death in a cage.

Listen to the report:

Jordan within hours executed by hanging two Iraqis convicted of terrorism crimes linked to al-Qaida, Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouly.

The Grand Sheik of Cairo's Al-Azhar Mosque, which is one of Sunni Islam's most respected seats of learning, said the burning of the Jordanian pilot violated Islam's prohibition on the mutilation of bodies, even at wartime. He said the militants deserved to be harshly punished for the crime.
