(Vatican Radio) ‘Vatican Weekend’ for November 22, 2014 features a report on the weekly general audience of Pope Francis with pilgrims from across the world, a look ahead to the forthcoming visit of Pope Francis to the French city of Strasbourg, his 5th journey abroad, followed by Linda Bordoni’s interview with the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz. The second half of this programme focuses on Christian unity in an effort to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Vatican II decree on ecumenism : ‘Unitatis Redintegratio’. It begins with Philippa Hitchen’s report on the message of Pope Francis for the occasion and ends with Veronica Scarisbrick’s interview with Church Council expert historian Professor Norman Tanner SJ who places this document into its historical context.
