Global Terror Index 2014 report released


(Vatican Radio) A new study into international terrorism says that the number of deaths from terrorism increased by 61% between 2012 and 2013. The report by the Institute for Economics and Peace says that nearly 18 thousand people died from terrorist attacks in 2013. There were nearly 10 thousand terror attacks in the same year, a 44% increase from 2012. The report also says that the Islamic State, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram and the Taliban were behind most of the deaths, with Iraq leading the list of most afflicted countries.
