Pope Francis appoints new bishop for Fairbanks, Alaska

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Saturday appointed the Rev. Chad Zielinski the new Bishop of Fairbanks, Alaska.  The bishop-elect is a priest of the Diocese of Gaylord, and currently serving as a military chaplain at the Air Force base in Fairbanks.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and served in the military in the mid-1980’s.  He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Gaylord (in Michigan) on June 8, 1996, and since 2002 has served as an Air Force military chaplain.
