MC sisters educating Bangladeshis to respect life, sexuality

The Missionaries of Charity nuns of Mother Teresa organized a workshop on Friday in Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, for men and women of all faiths, in their continued effort to help carry forward unwanted pregnancies and educate people in promoting life and responsible sexuality.  Some 200 people, including Christians, Muslims and Hindus participated in the workshop in Luxmibazar Parish.  Each month, the MC sisters help hundreds of young women continue unwanted pregnancies, the result of rapes or illicit relations. One of the most pressing pastoral activities for the Sisters of Mother Teresa in Bangladesh is to oppose abortion by supporting single mothers, as well as teaching them about the value of family and the culture of life.  Seminar organizer, Sister Maria Cor pointed out that the victims are mostly migrant women, who are welcomed in the sisters’ facility for moral and psychological support to help them continue their pregnancy.   Men too benefit from the service, learning to respect their wives.  (Source: AsiaNews)
