'Vatican Weekend' October 18, 2014

(Vatican Radio)  On ‘Vatican Weekend' for October 18, 2014 Veronica Scarisbrick features a report on the weekly general audience of Pope Francis in Saint Peter's Square this past Wednesday. She then looks ahead to the beatification of Pope Paul VI on Sunday October, 19 by shining the spotlight on his encyclical ‘Populorum Progressio' on the development of peoples. To do this she highlights the words of  Pope Francis  relating to this document as well as take an in- depth look at it with  Professor of Catholic social teaching, Dominican Alejandro Crosthwaite. In the second part of the programme she shares an interview focusing on the concerns and challenges of the family in Southern Africa with  Archbishop of Capetown Stephen Brislin, who is also President of the Southern African Catholic Bishops Conference. The programme ends with a reflection by Monsignor Peter Fleetwood on the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
