British hostage Alan Henning killed by Islamic State

(Vatican Radio) A video claiming to show the killing of British hostage Alan Henning has been released by Islamic State militants. The video of his beheading has yet to be verified. IS had threatened his murder in a film last month of the killing of fellow UK hostage David Haines.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said his country would do all it could "to hunt down these murderers and bring them to justice".

He said the killing of father-of-two Mr Henning, showed "how barbaric and repulsive" IS was.

"My thoughts and prayers tonight are with Alan's wife Barbara, their children and all those who loved him," he said.

Meanwhile,

The White House is condemning Islamic State militants for the apparent murder. And another American hostage is now being threatened by the group.
